Dundee United Women’s Football Club are disappointed to announce that Head Coach Gavin Beith has decided to stand down after six years in the post.

The women’s team has become a significant part of Dundee United Community Trust’s commitment to developing the female game in the local area and, during his time in charge, Gavin played a key part in the Club progressing through the divisions, winning the SWFL2 East title and the SWFL Division 2 Cup in their debut season before gaining promotion from SWFL1 North in 2018. Under Gavin’s stewardship, the team consolidated its position in SWPL2, narrowly missing out on promotion to the top flight at the end of last season.

Jamie Kirk, Chief Executive for the Dundee United Community Trust (DUCT), commented: “While I’m disappointed to see Gavin go, I’m also really grateful for his efforts and his commitment over a sustained period.  The development of the female game remains one of our priorities and Gavin has played a key role in the growth in this area.  He will certainly be missed and leaves a fantastic foundation for future success. Thanks also go to Graeme Hart for taking on the responsibility of interim Head Coach and I wish him well in this position.”

Dundee United Women’s Football Club (DUWFC) Chair Colin Stewart echoed Jamie’s thoughts: “Gavin has worked tirelessly to develop DUWFC since its inception in 2015. His coaching, tactical and leadership qualities have greatly benefited the players he has worked with in his time at the Club and I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank him for all that he has brought to the position. I wish him every success in his future career.”

Gavin Beith added, “After six great years working within the Community Trust, I feel now is the right time to stand down. It has been a real honour to play a part in the creation and growth of what is now a fantastic female set-up.

“I’ll be forever grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank every committee member, coach, player and parent I have engaged with throughout my time at the Club. I look forward to watching the Club go from strength to strength in the future.”

DUCT will now start the process to appoint a new DUWFC Head Coach. During this process, current Assistant Coach Graeme Hart will conduct interim Head Coach duties with immediate effect and prepare the team for the new season.

Everyone at DUWFC and DUCT thanks Gavin for his commitment, professionalism and dedication to the post during his time at the Club and he leaves with our best wishes for his future coaching career.
